Talking Carl

A friend of mine told me about this app for the iphone called Talking Carl. She told me Brady would love it. So I downloaded it. And let Brady play with it. He LOVES it. And he talks to Carl like he is his best friend, because Carl repeats everything Brady says.

So for the record book, I have to share Brady's conversation with Carl today:

Brady to Carl: "Would you like to sing a song? (very loud) Jesus loves me this I know...the bible tells me so" "Carl, would you like to pray?(pauses) Bless the Lord. Amen"

All on his own. It was precious. And hilarious all at the same time. I love that kid. And watching him use his own little imagination.

Happy Birthday Kinley

Sunday night, September 12th, i was baking gluten free chocolate chip cookies. Normal night. No contractions. Tommy and I had one of those nights where we were in deep conversation until 12:30 in the morning.
At 3:30 in the morning, I woke up with pretty intense contractions. So I timed them and they were 6 minutes apart. Not close enough for me to go the hospital. So, I got up and paced downstairs for almost 45 minutes. The contractions got closer together, more like 4 minutes apart. And by this time, they hurt SO bad.
So, I woke Tommy up. And told him that I was going to try and take a bath, since I have heard that water is a natural epidural. Well, I couldn't even make it to the bath tub. Severe contractions and pain so bad I really could hardly breathe.
Then a not so nice side of me came out. I was pretty much silently yelling that we HAD to go the hospital NOW.
This was all happening at almost 5:00am. Tommy called his mom and she rushed over to our house to watch Brady. Very thankful for family.
So, we literally rushed to the hospital. And even though I drive those roads almost every day, they seemed SOOO bumpy. And with every contraction and bump in the road, there was a scream from me:)
Checked into the hospital at 5:30 ish. Again, severe contractions about 3 minutes apart. They checked me and i was 80% effaced and dilated to a 5. I immediately told them I wanted an epidural.
Well, as soon as I got moved into the room I was going to deliver in, they started hooking me up to all the monitors and began the IV. Still, after a half hour, no epidural. I thought I was going to die. Or at least rip someone's hand off from holding on so tight.
45 minutes later, still no epidural. At this point our doctor had arrived. He checked me again. His eyes got big and he said, "You're at a 9 and fully effaced. If I broke your water now, this baby would come in the next half hour."
I proceeded that I couldn't take it any more and I HAD to have the epidural before I started pushing. Really, I don't know how people choose to do this all natural. Much respect.
FINALLY, the door opened and it was the anesthesiologist. I have never been so relieved.
After the epidural, I was in a happy place. And literally, 10 minutes after I got the epidural, the doctor broke my water and I started pushing.
I pushed for 25 minutes. And the baby was born at 8:19 am.
The doctor held up the baby and no one said a word. I looked and screamed "It's a GIRL!!!". Really...it was the most thrilling experience ever. She came out crying, but her body was so still. Totally explains her. So peaceful and calm. And comparing her to Brady, who came out like a wiggly fish out of water, they are so different. Amazing how I can already tell.
She is a fantastic eater/nurser. (And if you knew my nursing experience with Brady, this time is 1000000 times easier and better.) Really, she is an angel.
We are all doing great. Brady just loves his "sissy Kinley". He is interested in her for about 2 minutes, and then asks to go outside or play with his trucks. Such a boy. But I am very thankful for him and his attitude since we've had Kinley home. Quite the little trooper. (**Funny side note: I have a changing pad downstairs where I have been changing Kinley's diapers. Today, Brady started bringing his toy figurine people to the changing pad, telling himself that they need their diaper changed. Really it was pretty funny.**)

Getting the epidural. Finally.

Ah. relief.

Our doctor, Dr. Cho. He is pretty fantastic.

My wonderful supporter. Who wanted to play music on Pandora to distract me. Thanks for the attempt babe.

The nurses. Who were great by the way.

Apparently the doctor asked me to grab her, and I said " Are you sure? She's slippery. I might drop her." Don't remember saying that. But it was a sweet moment.

7 lb. 4 oz. Brady was 8 lb. 8 oz. What. A. Difference.

20.5 inches long.

Not sure of the head size. I just know it is a lot smaller then Brady's.

Daddy's girl. Oh he's hooked already.

Brady's first look at Kinley. He just wanted to look at her.

Then he decided he wanted to hold her.

Then he got brave and wanted to kiss her.

I love her.

So new.

Cousin Beau and Kinley. So sweet.
We didn't get pictures of all our visitors but they included, Reuben and Jaimie Jacobsen, All of the ladies that work at Tommy's office, Beau and Jay, Kristi, Jayden, and Mason, Nana and Papa.

Gotta love day after delivery pictures. But we had to document it. :)

When we got home, we had a new big brother gift for Brady. It's a Kazzam training bike. He was so excited. To say the least.

My mom came to help out and be with us on Wednesday. She stayed through Monday morning. And was a huge help. She did all of our cooking and cleaning and helped with Brady. Thanks Mom!!!!!

And on Friday, my dad and sister came to see us. It was a fun, college football watching, relaxing weekend:)

And on Saturday night, we had my family and Tommy's parents over for dinner. My mom got cupcakes for dessert. All on his own, Brady asked if we could sing happy birthday to Kinley with the cupcakes. It was too sweet. And so of course, we had a little birthday party for miss Kinley.

We are just loving our new little girl. And so thankful to everyone who has called, texted, and prayed for us. We feel so blessed with the greatest family and friends. So thank you.

Buddy

Meet Buddy. Brady's newest friend.
My mom bought it for Brady when she was here visiting. And Brady became attached to the little dog. Quick.
He likes to look Buddy in the face and ask him, "Are you ready to watch Veggie tales Buddy?"
"Buddy, you can sleep in the closet tonight, ok?"
Pretty funny how Buddy is becoming his little buddy. Love it.

Thanks Mimi...

My mom came to visit us this past weekend. She was able to help me get a lot of "baby stuff" done. As well as make us lots of yummy food to put in the freezer so I don't have to cook (that's always a great thing), cleaned our house, and helped with Brady. We did get lots of relaxation time as well.
So thankful to have her to help get so much stuff done before the baby makes "it's" appearance. Thanks Mom, for all your help! We love you!!!
